Violet, a spiritual color
Easter is almost here, and not much for devotion but more as tradition, major cities in Spain begin their parades, full of brotherhoods, penitents, worshipers..every city celebrates these processions in a different way and with different thoughts, but certainly there is an element that unites them all and gives them the same spiritual perfume. Color.

Violet dresses Holy Week from head to toe, the majority of the hood covered men who take part of theses parades with heavy dance steps, do it dressed in this color.
Violet is a secondary color, composed of an equal number of red than blue. Its grading towards light or darkness offers as a result a myriad of tones, without changing the base of its color. The combination of lilac and purple hues brings exceptional aesthetic results.

It has to do with spirituality, mysticism, it is the color of thought, meditation, serenity and reflection. One of the most used crystals in jewlery is the amethyst, an intense purple, whose meaning is purely spiritual, as it praises its ability to transform the bad thoughts into good ones, and its ability to guide us to our real self.

As a secondary color, composed of two primary colors, blue and red, we could manipulate it at our whim, adding either a greater of lesses extent of each. If we add mostly a blue pigment we get a violet shade, giving a cold sensation that coordinates to perfection with a primary blue decoration. If the majority is a red pigment, the result obtained will be one with mauve tones, pinkish or eggplants, which convert it to a very feminine color.

Its huge color range has made it a timeless color. It has been present in virtually every moment in history.

It is a sedative color, highly recommended as a first room before the arrival of a baby to its home in versions such as lilacs, pinks and mauves…but also wildly used in adult rooms, with darker and intense shades. It can be used as a basis to a full decoration, or as bush strokes to one, created in other colors, being that it marries all of them to perfection. The contrast that it produces when mixed with green or yellow provoke an amazingly vibrant sensation, with neutral colors such as white, gray or beige which bring calm and tranquility. That is why we will find it in the decoration of many waiting rooms, medical centers, lawyers offices, and places where waits are common.

In feng shui it is one of the fundamental pillars to decorate a home. Five colors represent the five elements, tones ranging from violet to red represent the fire elements. It raises spirituality, inspires respect, it is said that if someone has a purple “Chi”, they are a good and noble person, with many possibilities to create wealth and become a very powerful.

Those who travel seeking spirituality this Easter will be able to confirm the influence that the color violet leaves on divine thoughts. For all others, this is the perfect time for a home renovation, and violet is a great option.
