The beach house
At this time of the year, many families organize their first trip to the beach house, where they need to uncover the sheets that were left covering the furniture, open the windows, balconies, terraces, to bring fresh air in….to prepare the house that will be the abode for the summer is just around the corner.
The beach house should be especially light, refreshing and bright. We should decorate it with light colors and natural materials. The interior distribution of the home should be made pointing towards the exterior, giving special attention to the light, windows, the terrace exit or the porch… to be able to enjoy the outside, the sun and great weather, which is why we are there!
The porch or terrace should be perfectly equipped to be able to enjoy them. In function of their size, we will destine them for one or another use. If the space allows, an option to be able to enjoy the exterior to the fullest is to place in it the dining room in which we can eat overlooking the sea, or enjoy relaxing and romantic evenings. If the sun shines especially on our exterior, we can place a pergola that will provide shade and convert the space in to a more welcoming environment.
We can also convert the exterior into a second living room. There are several manufacturers that specialize in exterior furniture that introduce many novelty furniture pieces, that break away from the classic an colonial aesthetics. New materials and pieces with spectacular designs.
The interior or our homes must be an extension of the exterior, for that reason the colors should be clear, reflecting through them the sky, the sea, the grass, the sun, the air …colors that bring freshness to the environment without saturating them.
The white will enhance the light, which can act as a base for decorating. On many occasions we will find homes or hotels near the beach, whose furniture is white. If that is the option we choose, we are in luck, white in in right now, and the options are wide and varied.
Textiles should be light and natural. Fibers such as cotton or linen are the most appropriate and the most pleasant for relaxation.
In beach houses a good temperature is almost always guaranteed, for that reason we do not need to cover the floor with an insulation material, unlike winter homes in which wood or carpeting materials are most commonly used, in these homes, different types of tiles are best suited for aesthetics, functionality and comfort.
The interior spaces are transformed into a convertible one, so that we can enjoy the company of others wherever we are. The kitchen forms part of the living room, which becomes a makeshift guest room in an instant, which has access to the bathroom…the terrace communicates this great space with the outside world, which is our summer paradise.
