The color explosion that summer brings slips into all aspects of our lives, in the dressing room, hair color, bath towels…and of course on the table. So much so, that even the typical summer foods are of very attractive colors such as the yellow of a paella, green of the lettuce or the red in the gazpacho!!

Far from the serious looking cutlery that we all have at home waiting for a worthy occasion, in the summer we go for pieces that are softer, with bubbles, or drawings…and in all different colors.

The fish serving piece is no longer important, the star item of cutlery is the salad fork and ladle for serving.

The key kitchenware piece in our table is the “bowl”, a multi use item…For the salad, gazpacho, rice, ice cream, for mayonnaise, snacks, vinaigrette…

Tableware becomes fun, with bold shapes and intense colors, we can even interchange pieces from one tableware to another, getting attractive chromatic or geometric color combinations.

If we opted for white dishes, we can add a fun note with big under plates, of many colors shapes and vegetable forms.

One of the elements that will no doubt abandon our table until the summer doesn’t come to an end, is the oil and vinegar set.

There are many different shapes, colors and possibilities, with a built-in salt or pepper shaker, with a base to stand on, with a handle, turning it into a portable element.

But alongside it, and in addition, there are sauce sets formed by various dishes in which the sauces for garnish can be served.

We forget about the stew of the cold winter months and we opt for shared meals, for this reason platters, trays, and salad bowls turn in to the protagonist part of our table. We can choose pieces with sinuous forms but transparent, that allow us to see the attractive “colour” of each food. Or we could opt for color leaving geometry in the background.

If during the winter the wine marks the pace of glassware, now that job takes over by natural juices, soft drinks, horchata, slush drinks…they appear in over sized colored glasses,, with functional and attractive forms…the bottle gives way to the common pitcher, who besides being a practical element, becomes a focus of attention at the table.

But without a doubt, one of the most important aspects of the table, is the tablecloths. We may opt for a long tablecloth, white, sheer, which completely covers the table, this way we dress it with a touch of fresh air, romantic, designed to dress any event held in our home.

But if we want a more fun, colorful and cheerful table, our best option will be the individual table mats or table runners, with different colored napkins, coasters, straws…

But besides all this, the summer means more frequent meals with friends, barbecues in the garden, neighborhood parties…we must not forget that the market offers items such as the fondue or chopsticks skews, that will make the event organization much easier for fun evening with friends.

During the year, any food that is served, will be joined by a vase with flowers in the center of the table. In the summer, fruit becomes the alternative, making the fruit center in addition to being decorative, a tempting idea for dessert.
