Dressing rooms

Dressing rooms are my passion, based on their location I base the distribution of the house in these spaces, so the least I could do is write an article about them.
We have talked about closets, storage solutions and aesthetic possibilities and now finally the dressing room gets its turn.
It is any fashion or design lovers dream. Everything in sight, organized, ready and waiting to be used.

Lack of space in most homes means that in most cases we must forgo natural light inside the dressing room, or just settle for a closet, and the task of getting dressed is done in a separate room.
But today I’m going to let my imagination run wild, I’m going to daydream the dressing room of my dreams.
It would be a huge space, square, probably separated from my bedroom by a pair of huge sliding doors…

It would have a huge window, with plenty of natural light to see each color in its purest form. The curtains would play a key role, protecting the fabrics and colors from the light…

I would step on a huge fluffy rug, with a soft touch that would allow me to move around barefoot.

The room would be filled with closets, with many compartments where I could put all by belongings, with plenty of space, without having to stuff things in place.

The drawers would have glass fronts, to be able to see their contents without the need of opening them..
In the center I would place a seat, a divan or a pouff, a piece without a back in which I could sitt down and adjust the buckle on my shoe.

I would place a high table to support the chosen attire, and get dressed comfortably without exercising…

I would include as an accessory an ironing board that would be hidden when not in use. Having an iron at hand would help me leave the house impeccable…A small cabinet with mini drawers for jewelery and accessories. On top of it a dressing mirror..It would also have shelves, hanging space, an umberella stand, display case for my glasses and sun glasses..
The walls would be a light color, the color of the clothes would give a fun touch to the space..

I would light the room using floodlights to illuminate the surrounding cabinets, with the lights specifically pointing towards them, although I don’t think I could resist placing a hanging lamp, that would give it a romantic touch…

But the dressing room would also require decoration, I would place a decorative mannequin in a corner. A painting with some historical design, a magazine holder for all those fashion magazines that I accumulate looking for inspiration…

Ring, Ring…Back to reality, I will look for something to wear in my small hole in the wall…
