Capturing Smiles
Sony has recently introduced the Handycam® HDR CX11E , the first camcorder which incorporates the face detection function.

This technology allows you to automatically capture sharp 7.6 megapixel photos at the moment someone smiles. It is not necessary to press the release button or disrupt the action: It is ideal for capturing those spontaneous and relaxed moments that happen during recording.
In the “Dual Capture” (by default), still images are captured at the moment someone smiles during the recording of a movie. By changing “Smile Shutter” to the “Always On” mode, you can capture photos even if it is in “Stand by mode” (both in film and photo mode).

The “Smile Sensitivity” paramenter can be adjusted to recognize any gesture from a slight smile to a big laugh. You can also define the priority to recognize the faces of children or adults.
Smile Shutter is accompanied by Face Detection that automatically adjusts the focus, the exposure and color balance.

The Handycam® HDR-CX11E will be available in early August 2008 for 900 euros.
