Dressed by Custo

Just in time for the Fuori Salone, Custo Barcelona proposed together with Gruppo Industriale Busnelli a unique synergy between fashion and design.

Fiocco

The date is in the flagship store Custo Barcelona de Largo La Foppa 4, with the sample-installation “Dressed by Custo”, where you can see the reissue of the two historical chairs from Gruppo Industriale Busnelli: “Fiocco andLibro“, designed in the seventies by Gruppo G14 and Gruppo Dam, respectively, and currently on display in the MOMA in New York permanent collection . Two cult pieces that Custo Barcelona dressed in his famous prints and graphics, which is an original and un edited pop version.

The timeless modernity, the purity of the lines and the intuitive strength of  “Fiocco” and Libro” unite for the first time with graphic energy, a sense of color and creative freshness that have made Custo Barcelona internationally famous in fashion design, with huge impact results.

Libro

In a black-box space, in which an ironic pink carpet provides an air of pop, the evocative interpretation of “Fiocco” is highlighted. The sinuous lines of the structure in curved metal are coated with an elastic material, that Custo Barcelona has interpreted with a fabric that evokes colorful mandalas in strong fuchsia and blue tones. The effect is ultra contemporary and debates among the psychedelic suggestions and formal perfection.

It is also stimulating to see the polyhedral “rereading” that Custo Barcelona makes from the chair “Libro”. This brilliant armchair, which acts as book through its articulated metal structure in the middle, which supports the pages-seat, is particularly suited to be completely reinterpreted. Each page has a different upholstery, chosen by Custo Barcelona between their latest creations. From the sequin inlaid  or the Mondrian style prints on silk, to the prints with a modern brocade effect.

To contribute to the dynamic scenery for the event, the video created by Kroitnijz and produced b Pianob fusions into a make believe kaleidoscope, the graphics and figures of Custo Barcelona with the pop aesthetics of the installation, by Cristina Morozzi, brain and architect of the collaboration between Custo Barcelona and Gruppo Industriale Busnelli. An encounter that confirms once more that fashion and design can always find new and unexpected synergies.
