Sliding doors

Sliding doors are a wonderful solution to save space, communicate spaces, hide steps… In the market you can find different types among which we can choose according to our need.

Sliding doors

Sliding doors come in two different fastening systems:

Exterior Guide

This type of door slips through a guide placed in the superior and exterior partition of the wall. It is a fast and economical solution, being that it allows for the installation without the need of construction, you don’t even need to change the door, a conventional door could be adapted to the sliding panel by the means of this system. It those have the disadvantage that you will need to maintain a clear space for the door when it is open.

The door is hidden between the partition wall once it is open. It has the advantage that we don’t need to conserve the space around it to allow its opening.

Built in Slidding Door

The guides by which the door slides are hidden between the walls, which is why it has the disadvantage that if the doors break, there would be a need to knock down the partition wall to be able to repair.
Within this type of doors, there are different looks:

The weight needs to be the key factor when it comes to deciding on one kind of sliding door to get. If the door is too big, you may exceed the weight that a guide can bear. When the access space exceeds one meter, it is preferable to opt for a model that includes two doors.
